New York-based Scottish painter Catriona Herd has devoted the past two years to chasing the seasons and capturing the colours of nature in places that include Portugal, France, Scotland, and the United States.
Many of the results can be seen at Herd’s solo exhibition at the Broome Street Gallery, 498 Broome Street, (just off West Broadway) SoHo, Manhattan, NY 10013, from June 29 through July 11, 2010. Many of the new works can be seen at CatrionaHerd.com.
This will be Herd’s fourth exhibition in the past two years as her work continues to find new audiences around the world. Her strong use of colour — all her paintings are done in oil from outdoor sketches — continues to captivate and her strong technical training underpins her consistency.
One of Herd’s works — “Copper Tree, Evora, Portugal” — recently won a Jean Gates Award in New York.
