Inspiring, disturbing, jaw dropping, empowering, revelator – the reactions and words are as vast as the inspirations at “Savage Beauty,” The Alexander McQueen exhibit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, currently on display through July 31.
Shown chronologically, McQueen’s collections force you to rethink standards of beauty while marveling at the artistry of couture. Cut, materials and scale are close enough to inhale. Visually and audibly (with music selected for each space) the journey is all consuming and you are transferred to another place, reminiscent of times past but imbued with the future, although one of uncertainty.
From history lessons to holograms to undersea adventures, the multi-sensory experience will leave you wanting for more.
